Tamtam’s is currently hiring for three key positions as part of its expanding operations. These roles are perfect for enthusiastic, skilled, and service-driven professionals who are ready to contribute to a fast-paced, customer-focused dining environment.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cook (Preferably Seafood Specialization)
As a cook, you will play a central role in preparing and presenting dishes that meet the high-quality standards of Tamtam’s. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in preparing a variety of seafood dishes, including grilled, fried, steamed, and marinated options.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook meals according to the restaurant’s recipes and quality standards.

Specialize in seafood preparation, including fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and specialty dishes.
-
Ensure food is cooked to proper temperatures and plated with consistency.
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times.
-
Manage kitchen equipment, tools, and ingredients efficiently.
-
Follow all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene and handling procedures.
-
Assist in inventory checks and proper storage of ingredients.
-
Communicate effectively with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff.
-
Adapt to customer preferences and dietary requirements when needed.

Uphold Tamtam’s reputation for fresh, high-quality, and flavorful meals.
2. Cashier
As the cashier, you will be the face of the restaurant at the point of sale. You’ll be responsible for processing orders, handling payments, and ensuring every customer leaves satisfied with their service experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Greet customers warmly and take food orders efficiently.

Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and responsibly.
-
Receive cash, Mpesa, card, or other forms of payment and issue correct receipts and change.
-
Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
-
Answer questions about menu items, specials, and ongoing promotions.
-
Coordinate with the kitchen to track orders and provide customer updates.
-
Handle customer complaints or direct them to the supervisor.
-
Maintain cleanliness and organization at the cashier counter.
-
Monitor stock for items like takeaway containers and disposable cutlery.
-
Support front-of-house staff during busy shifts when needed.
3. Waitress
The waitress role is ideal for someone with excellent communication skills and a love for creating welcoming dining experiences. You’ll ensure customers are comfortable, informed, and fully satisfied with their time at Tamtam’s.
Key Responsibilities:

Welcome guests as they arrive and guide them to their tables.

Present menus and explain menu items, ingredients, and specials.

Take customer orders and relay them accurately to the kitchen.

Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally.
-
Respond to guest inquiries, dietary restrictions, and special requests.

Monitor tables and respond to guest needs throughout the dining experience.

Clear and reset tables between guests to maintain a clean dining area.

Work collaboratively with kitchen and cashier staff for seamless service.
-
Maintain a positive and energetic demeanor under pressure.
-
Adhere to grooming, safety, and hospitality standards set by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
To be considered for any of the three roles, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

A Diploma in Food & Beverage (F&B) or related field is required.

A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the hospitality industry.
-
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
-
Ability to work on shifts, weekends, and holidays.
-
High level of personal grooming and hygiene.
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
A strong command of spoken English and Kiswahili.
-
Professional attitude, punctuality, and a positive work ethic.
-
For cooks: demonstrable experience handling and preparing seafood dishes.
-
For cashiers: experience operating POS systems and managing payment transactions.
-
For waitresses: prior front-of-house experience and a natural ability to engage customers.
