INTRODUCTION

Are you a hospitality professional with leadership experience looking for an exciting opportunity in restaurant management? The Tamarind Group is hiring a Restaurant Supervisor to oversee service quality, team coordination, and operational excellence at our esteemed restaurant in Nairobi.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring high service standards, hygiene compliance, team training, and customer satisfaction. You will also lead inventory control, guest relations, and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Restaurant Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will include:

Inventory and Equipment Management:

  • Maintain and control an inventory of all service equipment and accessories in accordance with established standards.

Hygiene and Compliance:

  • Ensure all hygiene controls, housekeeping procedures, and operational standards are adhered to.

Team Leadership:

  • Assign tasks to station waiters, waiters, and busmen to ensure smooth operations.

Customer Experience Management:

  • Address guest complaints promptly and implement corrective measures where necessary.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct briefings on menu specials, beverage promotions, missing items, and other restaurant updates.

Training and Development:

  • Conduct training on service techniques, operations, and SOP compliance for all restaurant staff.

Cleanliness and Safety:

  • Ensure maximum cleanliness of public areas and back areas before, during, and after service.

Meal Service Standards:

  • Oversee food presentation and ensure all meals meet quality and operational standards.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Enforce restaurant SOPs and ensure all management procedures and controls are followed.

Reservation Coordination:

  • Work with the admin/reservation desk to confirm booking details and guest arrangements.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Ensure minimal pilferage and waste management through strict operational controls.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required Qualifications:

  • A diploma or equivalent degree in Hospitality, Restaurant Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in restaurant service, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with a focus on employee motivation and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with staff and customers effectively.
  • Organizational and time management skills to ensure smooth daily restaurant operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, making quick and efficient decisions.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, reporting, and administrative tasks.
  • Strong customer service skills with a keen eye for detail and quality.
