The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is seeking a hands-on and dynamic leader to fill the position of Registrar (Director, Registration and Licensing). About the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM)
The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is a corporate body established through an Act of Parliament under the Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA), 2007. With its headquarters located in Nairobi, KISM is mandated to oversee the training, registration, and licensing of supplies practitioners across Kenya.
KISM plays a central role in ensuring the regulation and ethical practice of procurement and supply chain management professionals. Our mission is to foster excellence, accountability, and professionalism in the supply chain industry while promoting national and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
As the Registrar (Director, Registration and Licensing), you will play a strategic leadership role in ensuring compliance, transparency, and professionalism in supply chain management practices. Your core duties will include:
- Overseeing the registration and licensing of supply chain professionals in line with the Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA), 2007.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures for the efficient management of the registration and licensing directorate.
- Maintaining a comprehensive database of registered professionals and licensed practitioners.
- Enforcing standards, guidelines, and codes of conduct to promote ethical and professional supply chain practices.
- Collaborating with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to enhance compliance and recognition of the institute.
- Leading the development of training programs and workshops for registered practitioners to ensure continuous professional development.
- Managing the review, approval, and renewal processes for professional licenses.
- Reporting regularly to the Chairman and Council on the performance and compliance of the registration and licensing directorate.
- Spearheading the investigation of complaints and violations related to supply chain practices and issuing necessary penalties or sanctions as outlined in the law.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Mandatory Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSP, MCIPS).
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of the Supplies Practitioners Management Act (SPMA), 2007.
- Proven experience in policy development, compliance management, and database oversight.

- Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting software.
