Key Responsibilities
As a Medical/Surgical Nurse, your primary role will be to ensure patients receive high-quality, compassionate, and safe care. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing Direct Patient Care: Perform assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions.
- Patient Advocacy: Ensure patient needs, rights, and preferences are respected and prioritized.
- Expert Clinical Resource: Deliver advanced clinical skills and act as a resource for nursing best practices.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work with doctors and other care providers to deliver coordinated care.
- Effective Communication: Facilitate open communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Quality Improvement Initiatives: Participate in activities to enhance care standards and ensure compliance with hospital policies.
- Emergency Response: Manage emergencies promptly and report abnormal patient conditions.
- Routine Duties: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of wards, provide health education, and assist with basic patient needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure proper handover between shifts.
- Patient Safety Initiatives: Identify risks, implement preventive measures, and promote safety.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution (a degree in nursing is an advantage).
- At least 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical ward.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Valid certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
