The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) is a government agency committed to the effective and efficient procurement, warehousing, and distribution of medical supplies to public health institutions across Kenya. To support the authority’s growing infrastructure and operational demands, KEMSA is seeking to recruit skilled professionals for seven critical technical and support roles in plumbing, electrical services, logistics, and transportation.

These positions are essential for maintaining uninterrupted services across KEMSA’s depots and offices and ensuring timely delivery of medical commodities to healthcare facilities nationwide.

VACANCY 1: Plumber – 2 Positions

  • Location: Nairobi with occasional travel to regional depots

Purpose of the Role

The Plumber will be responsible for performing plumbing installations, repairs, preventive maintenance, and compliance inspections across KEMSA-managed facilities. The position will directly support the Authority’s facilities and maintenance team to ensure continuous water supply, sanitation, and fire system readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install and repair water supply lines, drainage systems, and sanitary equipment
  • Maintain fire hydrants, overhead tanks, and plumbing safety systems
  • Conduct regular preventive inspections and daily equipment checks
  • Troubleshoot and unclog blocked drainage and sewer systems
  • Monitor and refill water tanks and pumping stations as required
  • Maintain accurate records of plumbing repairs and material usage
  • Interpret blueprints and prepare bills of quantities for plumbing jobs

Qualifications and Experience

  • Craft Certificate in Plumbing (Grade 1) from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial and industrial plumbing systems
  • Experience handling large facilities and government installations preferred
  • Competency in blueprint reading, maintenance logs, and report writing

Purpose of the Role

The Electrician will manage installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of all electrical systems under the Authority’s infrastructure portfolio. This role ensures compliance with energy safety standards and supports operational continuity.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on electrical systems
  • Carry out system inspections, diagnostics, and safety testing
  • Install new electrical units and upgrade existing infrastructure
  • Prepare electrical bills of quantities and compliance reports
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and tools required for maintenance
  • Supervise contractors during major electrical works

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation

  • Valid KPLC Wiring Certificate is mandatory

Purpose of the Role

Drivers will support operational and logistical functions by transporting staff, commodities, and documents between depots, regional offices, and partner institutions. The role ensures safety, timeliness, and accountability in all transport operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive KEMSA vehicles as assigned and maintain work tickets
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and roadworthy
  • Perform routine mechanical and safety checks
  • Record fuel usage, mileage, and trip reports accurately
  • Liaise with the Transport Officer to maintain service schedules
  • Adhere strictly to traffic laws and internal transport policies

Qualifications and Experience

  • KCSE Certificate (Minimum Grade D+)
  • Valid driving license for classes B, C, E with clean record
  • Minimum 3 years professional driving experience
  • Certificate in First Aid or Defensive Driving is desirable
