Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook Swahili, Italian, and pastry dishes to perfection.
• Develop and execute new recipes that enhance the restaurant’s menu.
• Ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest quality standards.
• Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients as needed.
• Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to uphold the restaurant’s standards.
• Innovate and bring creative food presentation ideas to enhance customer experience.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while ensuring timely meal preparation.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience as a chef, cook, or culinary specialist in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
• Strong knowledge of Swahili cuisine, including signature dishes like biryani, pilau, and samaki wa kupaka.
• Expertise in Italian cuisine, including pasta dishes, risottos, and pizza.
• Proficiency in baking and pastry-making, including cakes, croissants, and desserts.
• Culinary certification from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a high-paced kitchen.
• Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
• Excellent plating and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
• Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
