KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Baking Operations

  • Assist in the daily preparation of bread, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods following approved recipes and methods.
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients with precision using commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Operate ovens, proofers, mixers, and other bakery machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain baking schedules and ensure timely delivery of finished products.

2. Kitchen Hygiene & Food Safety

  • Follow kitchen safety and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance with food hygiene standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness of baking workstations, equipment, storage areas, and utensils.
  • Adhere to HACCP and public health guidelines.
  • Support accurate labeling, dating, and storage of baked products.

3. Quality Control & Presentation

  • Ensure consistency in product quality, taste, and presentation.
  • Conduct visual checks on ingredients, portion sizes, and finished goods.
  • Report spoilage or shortages of bakery supplies.
  • Collaborate with the Head Baker to introduce seasonal or signature bakery items.

4. Teamwork & Learning

  • Receive mentorship and feedback from the bakery supervisor and senior kitchen staff.
  • Participate in internal training, skill-building workshops, and baking trials.
  • Support the broader kitchen and café teams with prep work, cleaning, and customer orders when required.
  • Provide suggestions and demonstrate creativity in product development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Baking, Pastry Arts, or Culinary Arts from a recognized institution.
  • 0–2 years of baking or kitchen experience; internship or academic experience will be considered.
  • Passion for baking, a good sense of smell and taste, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety, ingredient handling, and measurement techniques.
  • Familiarity with baking tools and procedures such as dough proofing, mixing, icing, and shaping.
  • Ability to work early morning shifts and weekends.
  • Excellent communication skills, punctuality, and a team-focused attitude.
