KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Junior Tour Consultant, you will be directly involved in designing and delivering exceptional travel experiences that meet the unique expectations of our diverse clientele. This position requires strong collaboration, client-facing communication, and creative itinerary development. Your key responsibilities will include:

Design Customized Travel Packages

Develop flexible, tailor-made itineraries and detailed departure packs tailored to each client’s preferences and travel goals.

Research and propose travel routes, accommodation, transportation options, and activities aligned with client interests.

Organize Authentic Travel Experiences Across East Africa
-
Plan and coordinate safaris, cultural immersions, hiking expeditions, and other unique experiences across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.

Liaise with field teams to ensure all activities are logistically sound and culturally respectful.

Identify Gaps and Innovate

Continuously assess current offerings and propose new products or itineraries to improve guest satisfaction and differentiate Bobu Africa from competitors.

Monitor industry trends, seasonal travel patterns, and competitor activity to anticipate new customer needs.

Support Sales and Marketing
-
Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team to develop engaging promotional content, including TripAdvisor posts, Google listings, blog articles, and email campaigns.

Write compelling tour descriptions and testimonials to increase online visibility and engagement.

Manage Inbound Travel Enquiries

Respond to and track incoming travel enquiries with speed and professionalism.

Work alongside the sales team to build rapport with potential clients, understand their needs, and convert leads into confirmed bookings.

Supplier and Partner Engagement

Maintain strong relationships with tour guides, accommodation providers, transport companies, and local artisans.

Negotiate rates, manage booking confirmations, and ensure exceptional service delivery throughout the guest journey.

Lead Conversion and Sales Optimization

Apply best practices in sales processes, customer follow-ups, and CRM tools to ensure a seamless client journey from inquiry to feedback.

Upsell relevant products and services to increase average booking value and enhance client satisfaction.

Monitor Performance and Market Trends
-
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales volume, lead conversion, customer satisfaction, and product popularity.

Prepare regular reports for the Production Manager to guide strategic decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Bobu Africa seeks a dynamic candidate who brings creativity, enthusiasm, and professionalism to the role. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in travel operations with the potential to grow into a senior consultancy or leadership position.
Minimum Requirements
-
At least 1 year of relevant experience in a competitive travel-related organization (e.g., tour operator, travel agency, DMC).

A diploma or degree in Tourism Management, Travel Operations, Hospitality, or a related field.
Technical Competencies
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with online travel booking systems, CRM tools, and itinerary design platforms.

Competent in email correspondence, customer service etiquette, and professional writing.
Key Skills and Attributes

Exceptional attention to detail, especially when curating itineraries, pricing trips, and coordinating travel logistics.

Strong creative and storytelling skills to develop meaningful travel experiences.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team.

Comfortable handling multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing client needs.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English required (Swahili is an added advantage).
