Key Responsibilities of the Area Sales Manager Role
As the Area Sales Manager – Lead Generator, you will be responsible for supervising sales teams, driving business expansion, ensuring compliance, and contributing to leadership development.
1. Supervision of Lead Generators (40%)
- Provide tools and information to Lead Generators to optimize sales performance.
- Monitor daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual sales performance, providing coaching and feedback.
- Set individual sales targets for products, assets, liabilities, and campaigns.
- Manage daily attendance levels, approve leave requests, and ensure policy compliance.
- Oversee Lead Generators’ daily field activities and planned meetings.
- Motivate staff through recognition programs and ensure compensation plans are well understood.
- Identify training needs and arrange for formal training and on-the-job coaching.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, induction, and disciplinary processes of Lead Generators.
2. Supervision of Sales Activities (30%)
- Oversee product promotion campaigns, distribute materials, and conduct product training sessions.
- Monitor and report sales performance daily, weekly, and monthly to Regional Sales Managers.
3. Business Expansion (10%)
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers to unlock sales in companies through activations and financial training.
- Lead efforts to secure new company sign-ups and generate new leads.
4. Operational Rigour, Compliance, and Controls (10%)
- Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, risk management frameworks, and Absa’s internal policies.
- Maintain accuracy and quality of all new account applications, loan documents, and Barclaycard applications.
- Achieve operational rigour excellence and ensure compliance with KYC, anti-money laundering regulations, and Health & Safety standards.
- Manage effective leave, performance, and exit processes for Lead Generators.
5. Contribute to Team Development (5%)
- Share knowledge, best practices, and experiences with Sales Managers and Lead Generators.
- Provide cover for Sales Managers when needed and deputize for the Regional Sales Manager when required.
6. Personal Development (5%)
- Set annual performance objectives in collaboration with the Regional Sales Manager.
- Participate in development programs and training to enhance personal skills and leadership capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Educational Qualifications:
- Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required).
Professional Experience:
- Proven experience in managing sales teams within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience in coaching, training, and performance development of sales staff.
Technical Competencies:
- Proficiency in sales strategies, customer relationship management, and financial product knowledge.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Familiarity with banking systems, compliance standards, and risk management protocols.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and guide team members.
- Commitment to fostering a culture of integrity, performance, and collaboration.
