KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Invoice Reconciliation: Support the finance team in reviewing and verifying invoices on the ProSave platform, ensuring accuracy and completeness before processing.
- Payment Processing: Prepare Mpesa payment vouchers, obtain necessary authorizations, and process payments in a timely manner.
- Financial Documentation: Assist in the filing and archiving of finance documents, ensuring easy retrieval and proper document safeguarding.
- Ledger and Bank Reconciliation: Prepare General Ledger and Cash Offline Spreadsheets (GLACOS) and assist with monthly bank reconciliations.
- Payroll Support: Assist in processing statutory payroll deductions and ensure timely remittance to relevant regulatory authorities.
- Account Reconciliation: Perform single account and balance sheet account reconciliations on a weekly basis, preparing schedules for Finance Officer review.
- Journal Adjustments: Prepare adjustment and reallocation journals as needed.
- Audit Assistance: Provide necessary documentation and cooperation for internal and external audit requirements.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all financial transactions comply with Save the Children’s policies and procedures.
- Manual Payment Uploads: Assist in uploading manual payments in ProSave, ensuring they are reviewed and approved promptly.
- Additional Duties: Support in general financial administration tasks as assigned by the Finance Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Educational Background: Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field, or a professional accounting qualification.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS applications; familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong ability to gather and analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement logical solutions.
- Integrity & Ethics: High level of honesty, commitment to transparency, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact effectively with colleagues from various departments and adapt to a multicultural work environment.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to handle challenging workloads with minimal supervision.
- Preferred Qualifications: Part or full completion of a local or international accounting qualification is an added advantage.
