KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Social Media Manager (Sports), you will be responsible for building a dynamic and loyal audience of sports fans across Pulse Kenya’s digital platforms. You’ll lead and shape the editorial voice of Pulse Sports on social media and drive results through strategy, creativity, and data.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Develop and execute social media strategies to grow Pulse Sports’ reach, engagement, and follower count across Facebook, Instagram, and X.

Identify and ride real-time trends in sports and turn them into timely, relevant, and shareable content.

Produce and publish daily content including text, graphics, memes, polls, reels, carousels, and short-form videos.

Lead live coverage of sports events such as Premier League matches, AFCON, athletics meets, and local football derbies.

Engage with fans through comments, polls, and direct interactions to build loyal sports communities.

Collaborate with Pulse’s video, editorial, and design teams to coordinate campaigns and multimedia sports content.

Analyze post and platform performance using social media analytics tools (e.g., Meta Insights, Twitter Analytics) and report insights to editorial leadership.

Maintain a content calendar for sports campaigns, international fixtures, player features, and interactive content.

Coordinate with influencers, athletes, and brand partners on cross-promotional campaigns and UGC (user-generated content).

Maintain a consistent and on-brand tone of voice that reflects the Pulse style and values.

Monitor competitor platforms and emerging digital tactics to keep Pulse ahead of the curve.

Drive organic audience acquisition and community management in a high-volume content ecosystem.

Stay updated on sports news, transfer markets, match fixtures, athlete performances, and sports culture developments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
To thrive in this role, you need to be both a sports lover and a digital native—with the storytelling skills to keep audiences coming back and the analytics mindset to drive results.
Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Media, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

At least 2 years of experience in a social media, content creation, or digital communications role—preferably in the sports or entertainment industry.

Demonstrated knowledge of Kenya’s sports landscape, including local and international football leagues.

Proven experience growing social media channels organically.
-
Strong copywriting and captioning skills tailored for each platform.

Visual storytelling and content curation skills using tools like Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

Competence in live coverage, live tweeting, and engagement tactics during sports matches.

Basic understanding of analytics tools and interpreting performance data.
-
Ability to multitask and work quickly, especially during live events or breaking news scenarios.

Comfortable working evenings or weekends depending on sports schedules.
