About USAID FtF Kenya Private Sector Activity (KPSA)
The Kenya Feed the Future Private Sector Activity (KPSA) is a $48 million USAID-funded project implemented by Palladium. Spanning from 2024 to 2029, KPSA aims to:
- Accelerate inclusive economic growth in Kenya.
- Build partnerships with agricultural firms, health sectors, SMEs, and other stakeholders.
- Use its Inclusive Growth Platform to mobilize $400 million in finance.
- Create jobs, boost exports and sales, and improve access to healthcare services.
KPSA provides customized, high-impact services to enhance productivity for SMEs, smallholders, Business Advisory Service Providers (BASPs), and Financial Institutions (FIs).
Role Overview
The Project Driver plays a crucial role in providing logistical and administrative support to KPSA by ensuring staff, consultants, and other authorized personnel are safely transported to their destinations. This includes maintaining the assigned vehicle in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities
As a Project Driver, your responsibilities will include:
Transportation Services
- Safely transport Project staff, consultants, and visitors for meetings, workshops, and other assignments.
- Provide airport pickups and drop-offs, and transportation to hotels and Project sites.
- Always have the vehicle ready and on standby for assigned duties.
Adherence to Traffic and Security Protocols
- Follow all traffic rules and regulations.
- Ensure all passengers, including the driver, wear seatbelts.
- Remain vigilant about security at drop-off and pick-up points to maintain staff safety.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Conduct daily checks on oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, and other components.
- Maintain records of trips, kilometers traveled, fuel consumed, and service schedules.
- Arrange regular maintenance and minor repairs, ensuring the vehicle is in excellent working condition.
Administrative Support
- Collect and deliver mail, packages, and equipment as assigned.
- Maintain proper records for all deliveries and distributions.
- Ensure compliance with Palladium and government protocols in case of accidents, including reporting incidents and filing necessary paperwork.
Vehicle Security and Documentation
- Ensure the vehicle has valid registration, licensing, and inspection certificates.
- Keep essential documentation, including insurance papers, in the vehicle.
- Secure the vehicle during daily use and provide safe storage during weekends or non-working hours.
Emergency Preparedness
- Ensure availability of tools and safety equipment such as a first aid kit, spare tire, and repair tools.
Other Duties
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance and Administration.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following:
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a professional driver.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50).
- Familiarity with GPS devices and a solid understanding of area roads and neighborhoods.
- Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage.
- High school certificate and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Behavioral Attributes
- Polite and professional disposition.
- Ability to stay calm under stressful driving conditions, such as rush hour traffic.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends and night shifts.
