About the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM)

The Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) is a statutory body established under Section 3 of the Supplies Practitioners Management Act, 2007. KISM is the authority tasked with professional standards, licensing, and regulation of supplies practitioners in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

As the Principal Registration Officer, you will oversee the development and accreditation of supplies management programs. Specific duties include:

Accreditation Development

  • Drafting evaluation tools for local and international supplies management programs.
  • Designing and implementing accreditation frameworks, standards, and policy guidelines.
  • Developing manuals for accreditation processes.
  • Creating inspection and approval guidelines for training sites.
  • Establishing mechanisms to identify impairments in students and practitioners early.

Curriculum Development

  • Drafting core curricula for supplies management programs.
  • Preparing singular and joint inspection checklists for training institutions.
  • Establishing minimum infrastructure requirements for institutions offering supplies management courses.

Capacity Building

  • Developing continuing professional development (CPD) standards, programs, and activities.
  • Coordinating CPD initiatives, including annual calendar planning.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the CPD framework for effectiveness.

Reporting and Advisory

  • Submitting detailed reports to the Head of Department.
  • Advising on professional practice frameworks and compliance requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in supplies management or related discipline.
  • Professional qualification in supplies or procurement.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
