About the Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA)

The Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) is a State Corporation established under the Energy Act 2019 with the responsibility of promoting and implementing Kenya’s Nuclear Power Programme. NuPEA is at the forefront of energy research, policy development, public education, and the identification of suitable sites for Nuclear Power Plants.

As part of its mission, NuPEA is actively involved in fostering sustainable energy solutions through nuclear technology, ensuring energy security and diversification in Kenya. The Agency’s core functions include:

  • Developing national policies and legislative frameworks for nuclear power development.
  • Conducting public awareness programs to inform and educate stakeholders on nuclear energy benefits.
  • Leading research, development, and innovation in nuclear and renewable energy technologies.
  • Identifying and assessing suitable locations for future nuclear power plant construction.

Open Job Vacancies

1. Director, Information, Advocacy, and Communication

  • Job Grade: NuPEA 2
  • Reference Number: NuPEA/DIAC/01/01/2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive public education and advocacy programs that align with Kenya’s Nuclear Power Programme.
  • Lead the creation of strategic communication initiatives to engage and educate the public on nuclear energy benefits.
  • Organize and oversee stakeholder engagement forums, sensitization workshops, and media briefings to enhance understanding of nuclear power.
  • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with international and local media houses, government agencies, and private organizations to strengthen public advocacy.
  • Develop and execute corporate branding, marketing campaigns, and content creation strategies to enhance NuPEA’s public image.
  • Manage and optimize NuPEA’s digital presence, including website management, social media engagement, and online visibility enhancement.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s & Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, or related fields.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience, 8+ years in senior management.
  • Membership in Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).
  • Leadership training (minimum 4 weeks).
  • Expertise in stakeholder engagement, media relations & strategic communications.

2. Manager, Supply Chain

  • Job Grade: NuPEA 3
  • Reference Number: NuPEA/MSC/01/01/2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and enforcing procurement policies, contract management, and asset disposal strategies.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015 and all related legal frameworks.
  • Oversee supplier sourcing, prequalification, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management.
  • Implement efficient inventory control measures to maintain optimal stock levels and prevent losses.
  • Supervise procurement planning, reporting, and audit compliance.
  • Establish a transparent, competitive, and ethical procurement process in line with best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s & Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing & Supplies Management or relevant fields.
  • 10+ years experience, 5+ years in senior management.
  • CPSP or CIPS Certification & Membership in KISM/CIPS.
  • Valid Practicing License from KISM.

3. Senior Legal Officer

  • Job Grade: NuPEA 5
  • Reference Number: NuPEA/SLO/01/01/2025

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee compliance policies, legal frameworks, and regulatory measures for the nuclear sector.
  • Monitor legal compliance and risk management across all NuPEA operations.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal opinions on key policy matters.
  • Oversee contract preparation, litigation management, and dispute resolution strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB).
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • Valid Practicing Certificate & LSK Membership.
  • 4+ years of legal experience.
