KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including hematological, biochemical, serological, molecular, and other diagnostic tests.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of laboratory records and reports.
- Collaborate with pathologists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to provide essential laboratory data for disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
- Adhere to laboratory policies and procedures regarding data retrieval, specimen handling, identification, and reporting.
- Maintain the highest standards of client care by following hospital protocols and medical guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring regular calibration and compliance with quality control standards.
- Ensure compliance with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) Act and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in laboratory audits, continuous quality improvement programs, and research initiatives as required.
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment by adhering to biosafety and infection control protocols.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory staff and interns as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Educational Requirement: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
- Work Experience: At least two (2) years of experience working in a busy medical laboratory.
- Certifications: Must be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) with a valid practicing license.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience in histological processing techniques is an added advantage.
- ISO 15189 Knowledge: Training in ISO 15189 implementation or experience working in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory is a plus.
- IT Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
