Role Overview
The Fundraising Officer will be instrumental in driving the fundraising strategy for RefuSHE. This role emphasizes securing grants, fostering donor relationships, and ensuring that the organization’s operational and programmatic goals are met. The successful candidate will oversee grant writing, donor engagement, compliance, and reporting, working closely with internal teams to create impactful proposals and campaigns.
This is a dynamic and hands-on role, ideal for individuals passionate about creating lasting change for marginalized communities while advancing their career in the nonprofit sector.
Key Responsibilities
1. Grant Prospecting and Proposal Development
- Research and identify potential funders, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Develop and maintain a grant pipeline to prioritize funding opportunities.
- Write, review, and submit high-quality grant proposals aligned with funders’ goals and organizational needs.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather data, impact stories, and project details for compelling proposals.
- Tailor grant applications to meet specific donor requirements.
2. Donor Relations and Stewardship
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors.
- Provide timely donor communications, including project updates, grant reporting, and acknowledgment letters.
- Plan and execute donor recognition activities to enhance engagement and retention.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all donor-related inquiries.
3. Grant Management and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with grant agreements, including reporting, documentation, and budgeting requirements.
- Track grant timelines, spending, and deliverables, working closely with finance and program teams.
- Prepare and submit accurate financial and narrative reports in accordance with donor requirements.
4. Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain a well-organized database of funders, grants, and proposals using CRM tools like Salesforce.
- Monitor and report on fundraising metrics, including success rates and donor contributions.
- Support impact measurement through the collection and analysis of program data.
5. Strategic Fundraising Support
- Assist in shaping the organization’s fundraising strategy and annual revenue goals.
- Identify emerging trends and opportunities to diversify funding streams.
- Contribute to fundraising campaigns, events, and appeals, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Communications, Business, or a related field.
Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor management, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated success in securing grants from institutional donors, foundations, or government sources.
- Proven ability to build corporate partnerships and secure financial support from diverse stakeholders.
Technical and Behavioral Skills
- Strong writing and editing skills to produce persuasive grant proposals and reports.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in CRM tools like Salesforce and familiarity with donor databases.
- Strong financial literacy to understand budgets, compliance, and financial reporting.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with donors and team members.
- Adaptability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment, demonstrating creativity and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and results-driven focus.
