Our operations rely heavily on robust logistical and administrative support. We’re currently looking to recruit a professional Company Driver to join our Administration Department. The ideal candidate should be experienced, dependable, and demonstrate strong personal integrity.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Company Driver will be responsible for transporting goods, staff, and documents in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. The driver will also maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform regular checks, and ensure the vehicles are in good working condition. This position requires strong driving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to vehicle care and trip management.

DETAILED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Transport Duties

  1. Transport goods from the factory to designated delivery points or partner organizations.
  2. Transport staff to and from their designated workstations or offsite assignments.
  3. Ensure the safe and timely conveyance of goods, tools, equipment, and documents to designated areas.

B. Vehicle Maintenance and Care

  1. Maintain cleanliness of the company vehicle inside and out, ensuring it is presentable at all times.
  2. Perform routine vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance checks to ensure optimal operation.
  3. Detect mechanical faults and immediately notify the Administration team for necessary repairs.
  4. Schedule routine servicing and safety inspections and maintain updated records of such activities.

C. Documentation and Recordkeeping

  1. Maintain accurate records of vehicle travel including destination, distance, fuel consumption, and any issues experienced.
  2. Log entry and exit times for each assignment, including specific details of cargo or passengers carried.
  3. Monitor fuel usage and fill in fuel consumption reports as per company standards.
  4. Collect and submit transport-related receipts and maintain records for tolls, parking, and vehicle-related expenses.

D. Operational Support

  1. Support logistics functions such as picking up equipment, parcels, and documentation.
  2. Assist in transportation logistics for staff movements, especially during peak periods or field assignments.
  3. Coordinate with the Admin Department to optimize vehicle usage based on priority tasks.
  4. Provide ad hoc driving services during emergencies or off-hours as directed by management.

E. Team Support and Other Responsibilities

  1. Provide courteous and professional customer service to all passengers, including internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Ensure all trips are made following safety protocols and road traffic regulations.
  3. Provide regular reports on vehicle condition and performance for audit and compliance reviews.
  4. Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department or Administrative Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Must have completed secondary school with a minimum of KCSE level or above.
  • Driving License: Must hold a valid driving license Class B, C, E.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of continuous professional driving experience in a similar environment, preferably for a corporate or industrial employer.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proven skills in defensive driving and ability to handle both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Mechanical Proficiency: Basic mechanical skills will be considered an added advantage.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced industrial environment based at the Miwani Ceramic Factory.
  • Daily interaction with logistics teams, administrative staff, and senior leadership.
  • Outdoor work involving driving within Kisumu and occasionally to neighboring counties.
  • Exposure to challenging road conditions requiring alertness and adaptability.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • Reports directly to the Head of Administration.
  • Functional supervision by the Transport Coordinator or HR Officer as delegated.

PERFORMANCE METRICS

  • Vehicle safety and maintenance compliance rate.
  • Timeliness and punctuality of task execution.
  • Accuracy and completeness of travel logs and reports.
  • Responsiveness and professionalism in service delivery.
