We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Field Officer specializing in Protecting Family Links (PFL) to join our dynamic team in Nairobi, with 40% travel to Somalia.
Role Overview: Field Officer (Protecting Family Links – PFL)
As a PFL Field Officer, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and monitoring ICRC’s PFL activities in Somalia. The position requires conducting field assessments, fostering collaboration with stakeholders, and ensuring effective flow of information and follow-up on tracing cases.
Key Responsibilities
- PFL Strategy Implementation:
- Contribute to identifying Protecting Family Links (PFL) needs at the national level.
- Support the implementation of ICRC’s PFL strategy in coordination with relevant teams.
- Field Assessments and Support:
- Conduct regular field assessments with Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) PFL teams or ICRC multidisciplinary teams.
- Visit SRCS offices in Somalia, providing on-site coaching to SRCS PFL officers and volunteers.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with IDP camps, local authorities, NGOs, and other agencies to address key PFL issues.
- Case Management:
- Ensure timely and accurate follow-up of individual tracing cases, maintaining monthly records.
- Information Flow and Reporting:
- Participate in PFL meetings, draft minutes, and circulate promptly.
- Monitor and analyze PFL needs, providing detailed reports.
- Support Activities Related to Management of the Dead:
- Assist with logistical, administrative, and budgetary support for related activities.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Political Science, or a related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a busy humanitarian environment, focusing on protection or human rights activities.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a constructive working environment for team members.
Desired Profile and Skills
- Independence: Ability to work effectively without close supervision in multicultural environments.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent planning, coordination, and prioritization skills.
- Confidentiality: Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Language Proficiency: Strong command of English and Somali (written and spoken).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and related tools.
