Key Responsibilities of the Actuarial Associate Role
As an Actuarial Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting the actuarial unit by performing data analysis, experience investigations, and valuation of technical liabilities. Your responsibilities will include:

Data Preparation & Analysis
- Coordinate with assigned segments to prepare valuation data.
- Perform data checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Technical Liabilities Valuation
- Calculate accurate insurance technical liabilities for monthly financial reporting.

Solvency Calculations
- Perform timely monthly solvency calculations to ensure financial stability.

Experience Investigations
- Carry out investigations on expenses, product portfolio performance, and intermediary loss ratios.

Business Projections & Planning
- Prepare input data for annual business planning and strategy reviews.
- Assist in capital management, solvency assessments, and stress testing projections.

Reporting
- Collaborate with assigned segments to prepare data for management and board reports.

Compliance & Delegated Authority
- Operate within the delegated authority matrix and ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Educational Qualifications:
- University degree or completion letter in actuarial science, statistics, engineering, mathematics, physics, economics, or a related field with a strong emphasis on mathematical proficiency.
Professional Experience:
- Entry-level position; prior experience is not mandatory but internships or related experience are advantageous.
Professional Qualifications:
- Progress in actuarial examinations, with at least one paper passed from a recognized actuarial body.
Technical & Soft Skills:
- Proficiency in statistical techniques and data analysis.
- Basic understanding of the insurance industry in Kenya.
- Knowledge of reinsurance arrangements and structures.
- Familiarity with statistical packages or programming languages (e.g., SAS, Visual Basic).
- Competence in database management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail and high level of integrity.
