Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to:
- Collaborate closely with the assigned supervisor to create clear internship objectives and a structured work plan.
- Develop and execute research activities as outlined in your individual internship plan.
- Engage in data collection, analysis, and interpretation under expert supervision, ensuring high-quality research outcomes.
- Participate actively in project meetings and workshops, providing valuable contributions and insights.
- Draft reports and presentations showcasing research findings clearly and compellingly.
- Complete and submit project-specific documentation promptly, ensuring accurate records of your internship activities.
- Deliver a structured set of objectives and regular progress updates to your supervisor, ensuring accountability and continuous professional growth.
- Present findings through a final internship seminar (Brown Bag Presentations) at APHRC to share knowledge and foster collaboration.
- Complete and submit an internship evaluation form and participate actively in internship follow-up surveys to help improve future internship offerings.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should possess the following essential qualifications and competencies:
- Academic Background: Completed or currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Population Studies, Demography, Statistics, Epidemiology, Economics, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related disciplines.
- Research Skills: Demonstrated capability or coursework in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies.
- Analytical Proficiency: Competence in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, using software such as SPSS, R, STATA, NVivo, or similar tools.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively in multicultural environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ethical Research Practices: Commitment to ethical research principles, confidentiality, and data integrity.
