Key Responsibilities
As a Valuer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and providing a second opinion on valuations from external valuers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Enhancing the quality of assets held as security.
- Developing, reviewing, and implementing valuation policies in line with Kenya Valuation Standards 2021 and bank guidelines.
- Preparing and executing departmental strategies, plans, and programs.
- Monitoring the progress of ongoing bank-financed projects and validating the status of pledged securities.
- Coordinating, supervising, and evaluating external valuers on the bank’s panel to ensure compliance with laws and professional standards.
- Maintaining an up-to-date database of all valued properties and ensuring regular updates in compliance with policy guidelines.
- Advising the bank on property market trends and major developments.
- Corresponding with and issuing valuation instructions to external valuers.
Qualifications and Skills
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, or equivalent from a recognized Kenyan university.
- A Master’s Degree in Property Valuation, Real Estate Agency, or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
Professional Qualifications:
- Full membership in the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) in good standing.
- Registration by the Valuers Registration Board (VRB).
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of post-registration working experience in a similar role.
- Proven experience in mortgage valuations and property management.
- Strong understanding of legal risks and laws related to banking, lending, and credit documentation.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and influence stakeholders.
