Key Responsibilities

As a Valuer, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and providing a second opinion on valuations from external valuers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Enhancing the quality of assets held as security.
• Developing, reviewing, and implementing valuation policies in line with Kenya Valuation Standards 2021 and bank guidelines.
• Preparing and executing departmental strategies, plans, and programs.
• Monitoring the progress of ongoing bank-financed projects and validating the status of pledged securities.
• Coordinating, supervising, and evaluating external valuers on the bank’s panel to ensure compliance with laws and professional standards.
• Maintaining an up-to-date database of all valued properties and ensuring regular updates in compliance with policy guidelines.
• Advising the bank on property market trends and major developments.
• Corresponding with and issuing valuation instructions to external valuers.

Qualifications and Skills

Academic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, or equivalent from a recognized Kenyan university.
• A Master’s Degree in Property Valuation, Real Estate Agency, or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications:

• Full membership in the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) in good standing.
• Registration by the Valuers Registration Board (VRB).

Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of post-registration working experience in a similar role.
• Proven experience in mortgage valuations and property management.
• Strong understanding of legal risks and laws related to banking, lending, and credit documentation.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex data and influence stakeholders.
