POSITION OVERVIEW

Position Title: Oncology Tutor
Department: Nursing Education & Training

MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

To deliver high-quality academic and clinical training in Pediatric Oncology and produce competent, compassionate, and professionally qualified oncology nurses. The Oncology Tutor will oversee both theoretical instruction and clinical placements, contributing to curriculum development, student assessments, and clinical excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coordinate and oversee learning activities within the Paediatric Oncology program
2. Deliver theoretical instruction and hands-on clinical training to nursing students
3. Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure mastery of clinical competencies
4. Develop, review, and align curriculum with Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) requirements
5. Administer both theoretical and practical assessments, including grading assignments
6. Maintain clinical relevance through continuous practice and professional development
7. Contribute to the hospital’s quality assurance programs, audits, and research initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
• Higher National Diploma in Oncology or Paediatric Oncology Nursing (or equivalent)
• At least 1 year of experience working as a nurse tutor or in a teaching role
• Certification as a TVET Instructor (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) is highly desirable
• Certificate in Paediatric Resuscitation Skills is an added advantage
• Must possess a valid NCK Practice License
• Registration Certificate from the Nursing Council of Kenya
