Key Responsibilities

As a Quality Assurance Technologist at Coca-Cola Beverages Kenya Limited (CCBK), your main duties and responsibilities will include:

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Monitor and maintain the quality assurance system to ensure adherence to Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) standards, regulatory guidelines, and global best practices.
Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with local and international food safety regulations.
Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure the production process meets all quality and safety requirements.
Ensure compliance with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), ISO 22000, and other relevant food safety management systems.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address any quality deviations and minimize product defects.
Monitor hygiene, sanitation, and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) in the production facility.
Ensure all raw materials and finished products meet the required specifications and safety guidelines.

Process Improvement & Product Quality Monitoring

Work closely with production teams to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve the overall quality of products.
Analyze production trends and recommend process improvements to enhance product consistency and safety.
Investigate customer complaints related to product quality and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Conduct sensory evaluations and physical-chemical tests on beverage products to ensure they meet quality parameters.
Develop strategies to enhance packaging quality, ensuring durability and protection against contamination.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Total Quality Management (TQM).

Training & Staff Development

Train production staff on quality control processes, food safety standards, and best practices for handling products.
Conduct workshops and refresher training to reinforce the importance of quality assurance within the organization.
Promote a culture of quality consciousness and continuous improvement across all levels of the company.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with company-wide quality objectives.

Regulatory Compliance & External Audits

Ensure all products comply with local and international food safety regulations, including KEBS (Kenya Bureau of Standards) requirements.
Prepare and present reports for internal and external audits, demonstrating compliance with all quality and regulatory standards.
Work with government agencies and third-party auditors to maintain industry certifications.
Keep up to date with global food safety trends and implement best practices to maintain Coca-Cola’s reputation for excellence.

Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Minimum Educational Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Food Science, Biotechnology, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
Additional certifications in HACCP, ISO 22000, and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) will be a significant advantage.

Experience & Technical Skills

Minimum of 5 years experience in a Food Processing Plant, preferably in a beverage or bottling company.
Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, risk management, and safety procedures.
Familiarity with food production processes, laboratory testing, and packaging quality control.
Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and compliance auditing.
Proficiency in data analysis tools for quality performance tracking and reporting.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to address quality-related issues.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities for cross-functional teamwork.
