AVAILABLE NON-TEACHING POSITIONS

1. DRIVER II – GRADE 3/4 (UoEm/TD/01/2025)

• Requirements:
  • KCSE D+ (plus) or KCE Division IV
  • Valid driver’s license (A, B, C, E or smart driving license B, C1, C, D1, D2, D3)
  • Minimum of 5 years accident-free driving experience
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili
  • Ability to drive buses and lorries

2. TECHNICIAN IV (FARM MACHINERY) – GRADE 5/6 (UoEm/FMT/01/2025)

• Requirements:
  • KCSE C- (Minus) / Division III
  • Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Mechanics, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Valid driver’s license (Class G)
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Experience in operating, repairing, and maintaining farm machinery
  • Certificate in computer proficiency

3. TECHNICIAN II (MEDIA LABORATORY) – GRADE 5/6 (UoEm/MLT/01/2025)

• Requirements:
  • KCSE C- (Minus) / Division III
  • Diploma in Mass Media, Journalism, or Media/Broadcast Technology
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a media lab or broadcast studio
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining media production equipment (e.g., cameras, microphones, audio mixers, lighting equipment)
  • Understanding of IT systems and networking related to media production
  • A Higher Diploma in a relevant field is an added advantage

QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEACHING POSITIONS

PROFESSOR (GRADE 15)

• PhD in a relevant field
• 12 years university teaching experience, including 3 years as Associate Professor
• 60 publication points, 40 of which must be in refereed scholarly journals
• Supervised 6 Master’s and 2 PhD students
• Secured at least 2 research grants
• Evidence of active research, leadership, and university service

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (GRADE 14)

• PhD in a relevant field
• 8 years university teaching experience, including 3 years as Senior Lecturer
• 48 publication points, 32 of which must be in refereed scholarly journals
• Supervised 5 Master’s and 1 PhD student
• Secured at least 2 research grants
• Evidence of active research and university engagement

SENIOR LECTURER (GRADE 13)

• PhD in a relevant field
• 5 years university teaching experience, including 3 years as Lecturer
• 32 publication points, 24 of which must be in refereed scholarly journals
• Supervised 4 Master’s students
• Secured at least 1 research grant

LECTURER (GRADE 12)

• PhD in a relevant field from a recognized university
• Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in the relevant field
• Evidence of research, conference participation, and scholarly publications

TUTORIAL FELLOW (GRADE 11)

• Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Upper Division) and Master’s degree in the relevant field
• Must be registered for a PhD and show significant progress (PhD progress report required)
