KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct political and economic reporting to support embassy objectives.

  • Engage in multilateral work with UN organizations like UNEP and UN-Habitat.
  • Promote business partnerships between Norway and Kenya through targeted initiatives.

  • Provide administrative and consular support as required by embassy needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Enrollment in higher education in social sciences, economics, or law (required).
  • Norwegian citizenship (mandatory).
  • Strong academic background with a demonstrated interest in foreign policy.
  • Knowledge of Kenyan and/or Somali politics, culture, and society (advantageous).
  • Experience or interest in development cooperation and aid programs (beneficial).
  • Personal initiative and analytical skills to handle diverse tasks.
  • Ability to collaborate and work independently with teamwork capabilities.
  • Experience with social media and online publishing (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in Norwegian and English.

STIPEND AND PRACTICAL DETAILS

  • Duration: Six months, starting Monday, August 4, 2025.
  • Stipend: Unpaid internship with a monthly stipend of NOK 15,500 (approximately KES 185,561), combinable with Norwegian Loan Fund support.
  • Expenses: Interns must cover travel, living costs, and secure accommodation in Nairobi independently.
  • Conditions: Subject to travel advisory changes for Kenya; the embassy may cancel the offer, with no liability for pre-commencement expenses.
