Key Responsibilities
As a Shipboard Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to guests and crew.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as EKGs, X-rays, and laboratory tests.
- Triage emergency calls, assess patients, and provide immediate care.
- Operate medical equipment safely and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate and complete health records for all patients.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, injuries, and illnesses.
- Dispense and administer medications safely.
Patient Experience:
- Deliver high-quality patient care with professionalism and empathy.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and medical colleagues.
- Respect and accommodate diverse cultures, languages, and backgrounds.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of personal and health-related data.
- Actively participate in patient feedback reviews to improve service quality.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Notify Senior Nurse or Senior Doctor of any critical medical cases.
- Manage time and workload efficiently to maintain smooth medical operations.
- Stay updated on medical best practices and new clinical protocols.
- Engage in continuous professional development through training and onboard learning opportunities.
- Adhere to global medical standards and corporate compliance policies.
Public Health and Infection Control Responsibilities:
- Implement disease prevention measures and adhere to public health regulations.
- Participate in infection outbreak management when necessary.
- Educate crew members on health and wellness programs.
Medical Center Administration:
- Maintain an efficient inventory of medical supplies and ensure cost-effective management.
- Keep accurate billing records for patient services.
- Perform routine safety checks on medical facilities and equipment.
- Schedule and manage crew wellness checks and health screenings.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow professional healthcare regulations and compliance guidelines.
- Participate in onboard emergency drills and safety training.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols at all times.
Required Qualifications & Skills
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
- Registered Nurse (RN) Qualification.
- Active professional license with a recognized regulatory body.
- Minimum three years of post-graduation clinical experience.
- Experience in acute care settings such as emergency rooms, ICUs, or urgent care.
- Valid ACLS/ALS certification before joining.
- PALS certification (expected within the first year).
- Valid passport and eligibility for a C1/D visa (for non-US/Canadian citizens).
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written, including medical terminology).
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with electronic health records is a plus.
- Basic IT proficiency (Microsoft 365 and Windows applications).
