Key Responsibilities
1. Development of the Human Resources Department
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and support line managers in adhering to established protocols.
- Actively participate in the recruitment process and contribute to developing effective HR policies.
- Administer HR programs that align the workforce with strategic company goals.
- Support the preparation and presentation of periodic HR reports and ensure implementation of approved HR decisions.
- Facilitate staff leave scheduling and maintain up-to-date leave records.
- Oversee compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards.
- Provide backup for payroll processing and ensure statutory requirements are met.
- Drive organizational development initiatives, focusing on workforce development and change management.
2. Employee Relations and Communication
- Foster positive employee-employer relationships by enforcing robust employee relations practices.
- Provide advice and support to line managers on managing employee relations issues.
- Oversee disciplinary procedures and counsel staff on employment-related matters.
- Promote effective communication and gather feedback through structured employee engagement platforms.
- Monitor organizational culture to enhance employee satisfaction and alignment with core values.
3. Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
- Collaborate with ICT teams to maintain HR sections on intranet and internet platforms.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date employee databases and leave records.
- Recommend enhancements to HR database systems and ensure efficient record-keeping.
4. Performance Management
- Facilitate the implementation of the performance management system, including job description reviews and performance appraisals.
- Address performance issues in alignment with company policy.
- Ensure company-wide compliance with performance management protocols.
5. Learning and Development
- Conduct comprehensive orientation sessions for new employees.
- Identify training needs and manage in-house employee training systems.
- Coordinate the training calendar and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Assist managers in upskilling team members to ensure continuous professional development.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or equivalent.
- Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) or Higher National Diploma (preferred).
- Membership in IHRM (mandatory).
- At least six years of HR experience in a labour-intensive, unionized environment, preferably within the FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience with HRMIS.
