INTRODUCTION

JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi, part of Marriott International’s luxury brand portfolio, is seeking a qualified and experienced Security Supervisor to join its elite Loss Prevention team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing safety protocols, leading emergency response activities, monitoring CCTV systems, coordinating investigations, and fostering a secure environment for guests, staff, and property assets. You will also play a key leadership role in training security associates, conducting inspections, and ensuring legal and policy compliance.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Surveillance and Patrol Duties

  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols across the hotel premises
  • Secure rooms and high-risk areas, verifying access and monitoring guest activity
  • Respond to guest requests for room access or safety-related concerns
  • Monitor and manage Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV), alarm systems, fire panels, and emergency call systems
  • Document, report, and respond to any suspicious activity, security breaches, or incidents

Emergency Response and Incident Management

  • Act as the first responder to hotel emergencies: medical, fire, bomb threats, weather, or theft
  • Administer First Aid/CPR when necessary and coordinate with Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Complete detailed incident reports and escalate issues to management and law enforcement as appropriate
  • Maintain confidential incident documentation and share only with authorized personnel

Guest Interaction and Conflict Resolution

  • Anticipate and address guest needs in a timely, courteous, and professional manner
  • Resolve complaints and disturbances peacefully and within company policy
  • Escort unwelcome persons from the hotel grounds without disruption
  • Ensure compliance with alcoholic beverage control laws and manage intoxicated individuals professionally

Health, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance

  • Perform hazard inspections and correct unsafe work conditions or report them to appropriate teams
  • Lead emergency drills, safety walkthroughs, and property risk assessments
  • Enforce company policies regarding PPE, sanitation, and hazardous materials
  • Coordinate with local fire, law enforcement, and medical authorities when required

Supervisory and Leadership Duties

  • Train, coach, and motivate security associates and new hires
  • Lead by example as a role model for professionalism and ethical behavior
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance, ensuring timely task completion and service standards
  • Facilitate compliance with Marriott’s Guarantee of Fair Treatment policy

Investigations and Reporting

  • Investigate theft, loss, or fraud allegations, conduct interviews, gather evidence
  • Prepare and review daily shift logs and incident reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Issue documentation for injuries and workplace incidents in line with insurance protocols
  • Conduct key control audits and manage master key inventory securely

Technology and Communication

  • Utilize radios, mobile phones, email, and incident reporting software to coordinate team operations
  • Maintain situational awareness via surveillance equipment and digital monitoring platforms
  • Complete required security paperwork and use hotel systems for task tracking and communication

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum Experience: At least 2 years of related work in hotel, corporate, or property security
  • Supervisory Experience: At least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory security role

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in First Aid and CPR
  • Knowledge of CCTV systems and electronic access control
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong physical fitness, endurance, and ability to operate under pressure

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods (entire shift)
  • Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, 75 pounds with assistance
  • Navigate narrow passages, stairs, ramps, and uneven/slippery surfaces
  • Bend, twist, reach overhead, grasp, and manipulate objects frequently
  • Maintain visual awareness and read small print and security screens
