Key Responsibilities
As the Scout Foreman, you will be responsible for:
- Crop Monitoring and Training
- Develop and implement robust crop monitoring programs, including regular scouting schedules.
- Train scouts on identifying key pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies in flowers.
- Supervision and Reporting
- Oversee daily inspections, ensuring thorough monitoring across farm areas.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on crop conditions, pest and disease outbreaks, and implemented control measures.
- Data Analysis and Decision-Making
- Analyze scout data to identify trends and implement informed control measures.
- Collaborate with the Spray Foreman to create effective pesticide programs.
- Team Coordination
- Conduct regular meetings to discuss crop conditions, pest and disease management, and safety protocols.
- Ensure scouts are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to enhance performance.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date scouting records.
- Ensure all documents are audit-ready and meet regulatory requirements.
- Safety and Quality Assurance
- Promote a safety-first culture by organizing regular training sessions.
- Audit input quality and advise the Production Manager on priority areas.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you will need:
Education and Experience
- A Degree or Diploma in Agriculture or Horticulture.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a flower production setup.
Technical Skills
- Training in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Level 1 or 2.
- Current certification in safe pesticide use.
- BASIS/FACTS certification is an added advantage.
