Job Overview

This is a dynamic leadership role that requires expertise in gender and inclusion programming. The Regional Gender and Inclusion Lead will work closely with the Senior Child Protection Manager, Head of Gender Diversity & Social Inclusion, and Project Director to ensure the successful implementation of gender-focused projects. The role demands a strategic thinker and proactive leader who can drive impactful programs while maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders at the county and sub-county levels.

The position is field-based with a structured Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage all gender and inclusion case management activities.
  • Supervise program officers and case workers, ensuring the effective coordination of case data using the Commcare system.
  • Develop annual work plans and budgets to facilitate project implementation.
  • Generate high-quality analytical reports for project stakeholders.
  • Train teams on Gender and Inclusion Case Management Protocols/SOPs and enforce adherence.
  • Design and implement child protection activities, including Safe Spaces and Child Protection Help Desks.
  • Monitor project targets, performance metrics, and impact measurement.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting in collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) department.
  • Maintain financial oversight by tracking regional project budgets in compliance with SHOFCO and donor regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to program execution and implement mitigation strategies.

Team Management & Coordination:

  • Provide mentorship and supervision to field teams.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Child Protection Manager for effective program oversight.
  • Facilitate capacity-building initiatives for gender champions at the sub-county level.
  • Lead community awareness campaigns on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
  • Oversee case referrals to relevant support services and agencies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships:

  • Represent SHOFCO in county-level coordination meetings, Technical Working Groups (TWGs), and advocacy platforms.
  • Establish and nurture strong partnerships with county and sub-county governments.
  • Ensure effective coordination with NGOs, community organizations, and local authorities.
  • Engage in policy discussions and advocacy efforts to promote gender inclusion.

Operational & Compliance Oversight:

  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies and report concerns where necessary.
  • Support logistical and procurement processes for project activities.
  • Monitor financial and programmatic compliance with donor and SHOFCO regulations.
  • Oversee the proper use and management of office equipment and field resources.

Qualifications and Skills

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Social Work, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Additional certification in child protection and gender inclusion is an advantage.
  • Professional training in gender programming, sexual reproductive health (SRH), and life skills mentorship is desirable.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in case management, gender inclusion, or child protection work.
  • Strong interviewing and note-taking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and gender-based violence prevention.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to manage field teams effectively.
