Key Responsibilities

As the Project Officer, you will play a strategic role in managing the economic justice program, with a focus on policy advocacy and public sector accountability. Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design and execution of economic justice programs that enhance public service efficiency.
  • Conducting policy analysis on Kenya’s taxation system, public budgets, debt management, and economic inequality.
  • Overseeing the implementation of multi-county projects advocating for progressive economic policies, gender-responsive budgeting, and pro-poor revenue-raising strategies.
  • Engaging with government officials, civil society organizations, donors, and the media to promote NTA’s objectives.
  • Managing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in policy research, economic justice, and governance sectors.
  • Spearheading donor reporting and grant management processes to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Developing and overseeing advocacy campaigns, including community sensitization and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Monitoring and evaluating project impact, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Drafting and presenting reports, policy briefs, and advocacy materials to influence public discourse on fiscal justice.
  • Representing NTA in conferences, forums, and high-level policy discussions.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Education:

  • A Master’s Degree in Economics, Political Science, or Law (Mandatory).
  • A certificate from KESRA (Kenya School of Revenue Administration) will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing policy advocacy projects.
  • Proven expertise in public finance, tax justice, and economic inequality research.
  • Hands-on experience in multi-county project management and progressive economic policy advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of Kenya’s tax system and the global taxation landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with government agencies, donor representatives, and the media.
  • Experience in proposal writing, financial management, and donor reporting.
  • Familiarity with civil society organizations and key stakeholders in the governance sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
