Introduction
Are you passionate about disability rights and creating inclusive solutions for displaced individuals? We are looking for a dedicated and driven Program Officer to lead transformative efforts within the Disability and Displacement Project in Kenya. This exciting role offers a unique opportunity to champion the inclusion and empowerment of forcibly displaced persons with disabilities through strategic planning, advocacy, and partnership-building. This position supports a 2025–2027 initiative to create accessible pathways to safety and promote meaningful participation in policy and decision-making processes.
This role is full-time, based in Kenya, and will involve collaboration with diverse stakeholders on both national and international platforms.

Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation (90%)
- Develop, manage, and execute all aspects of the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure access to legal pathways to safety for forcibly displaced persons with disabilities.
- Organize and facilitate advocacy workshops to advance the inclusion of refugees with disabilities in policy planning and implementation at the national, regional, and international levels.
- Plan and lead training workshops on disability rights, focusing on the UNCRPD (United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities).
- Identify and engage refugees with disabilities as project beneficiaries through community outreach and partnerships.
- Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Learning (MERL) Officer to establish robust M&E systems for tracking project performance.
- Provide support and capacity-building to organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) engaged in the project.
- Coordinate and participate in reflection sessions to evaluate progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Actively manage risks and proactively address challenges throughout the program cycle.
Financial and Resource Management (10%)
- Collaborate with the Senior Finance Officer to prepare budgets, forecasts, and expenditure reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to organizational financial policies and accountability standards.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Policy, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of proven experience as a Project Officer or in a similar role managing dynamic programs with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong background in program cycle management, including project design, implementation, and monitoring.
- Experience working with diverse communities and organizations using participatory approaches.
- Exceptional research and writing skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with Kenyan legislation and policies related to disability, human rights, and refugee rights.
- Proven experience in advocacy and disability inclusion initiatives.
- Understanding of global frameworks such as the UNCRPD and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
