KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.
• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring high-quality products at competitive prices.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with vendors to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
• Monitor and track supplier performance to ensure adherence to contract terms and service level agreements.
• Manage procurement budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness in purchasing decisions.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier information.
• Ensure compliance with local and international procurement regulations and ethical sourcing policies.
• Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging suppliers.
• Work collaboratively with internal departments such as logistics, finance, and operations to streamline procurement processes.
• Implement sustainable procurement practices to support environmental and social responsibility goals.
• Assess inventory levels and anticipate future supply chain needs to prevent shortages or excessive stockpiling.
• Evaluate procurement risks and develop strategies to mitigate disruptions to the supply chain.
• Coordinate with international suppliers to ensure timely delivery of imported agricultural products.
• Monitor supplier payment terms and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
• Provide training and guidance to junior procurement team members on best practices and procurement policies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, KISM) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the agricultural sector.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations in Kenya.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain supplier relationships.
• High level of integrity and commitment to ethical procurement practices.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent decision-making skills with a strategic mindset.
• Experience in global sourcing and international procurement will be an added advantage.
