INTRODUCTION

Nestlé Kenya is hiring a Processing Operator to join our team in Nairobi. This role is essential to ensuring optimum line/equipment performance while maintaining the highest product quality standards and compliance with safety and environmental policies.
As part of Nestlé’s production team, you will play a key role in efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring high levels of productivity, hygiene, and workplace safety. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Processing Operator, your primary duties will include:
Production and Equipment Operation
- Prepare and changeover filling equipment to accommodate different product sizes and types.
- Ensure processing machines operate under the correct conditions and parameters to meet quality, efficiency, and cost targets.
- Coordinate with tipping operators to achieve daily production plans.
- Perform regular inspections of the processing lines to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Adjust machine settings as required to ensure optimal efficiency and consistent product quality.
- Ensure the smooth flow of raw materials and semi-finished goods (SFG) during production.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Enforce Nestlé Quality System (NQS) by adhering to HACCP & QMS protocols.
- Accurately document material and product details on required process forms.
- Ensure all Semi-Finished Goods (SFG) declarations and material consumption records are complete and accurate.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to resolve product quality concerns.
- Conduct sampling tests to verify consistency, texture, and taste of products.
- Implement corrective measures if there are any deviations from the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Adhere to Nestlé’s Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) policies.
- Implement Sustainable High-Performance Organization (SHO) action plans to ensure workplace safety.
- Timely escalate safety and operational concerns to the Daily Operations Review (DOR) team.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ensure proper waste management by separating recyclable and non-recyclable waste.
- Participate in monthly safety drills to enhance awareness and readiness.
Continuous Improvement and Digital Integration
- Engage in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) initiatives to drive productivity improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date SAP and SAM transactions for production tracking and efficiency analysis.
- Actively participate in problem-solving activities and lean manufacturing improvements.
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose automation or improvement measures.
- Train new hires and junior operators on equipment handling and troubleshooting.
- Participate in cross-functional team projects to optimize production line workflows.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education and Experience:
- Diploma or Certificate in Plant Operations, Food Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a production operator.
- Prior experience in tipping operations or food processing is an added advantage.
- Experience in automated and semi-automated production lines is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 quality management systems is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
Technical and Functional Competencies:
- Competency in all identified process functions as per the Nestlé Competency Matrix.
- Ability to update SAM (Systematic Asset Management) & align with SAP (Systems, Applications & Products in Data Processing).
- Strong understanding of NGMP (Nestlé Good Manufacturing Practices) and Food Safety requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues.
- Computer literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office and digital process tracking tools.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team-oriented environment.
- Strong numerical skills to accurately record and interpret production data.
