Introduction

About MENA Rights Group
MENA Rights Group is a Geneva-based legal advocacy NGO committed to the protection and promotion of fundamental rights and freedoms across the Middle East and North Africa. With a holistic approach, we work on both individual cases and structural reform initiatives. Our team provides legal counseling to victims of human rights violations, leveraging international law mechanisms to seek justice. In addition, we conduct human rights assessments and engage with key stakeholders to drive policy change. As a small but dynamic team, we are dedicated to amplifying the voices of the marginalized and advocating for legal and policy reforms that advance human rights in the region.
Key Responsibilities
As a Media and Campaigning Officer, you will play a critical role in enhancing the organization’s visibility, credibility, and impact. Your responsibilities will include:
Communications Strategy & Implementation:
- Develop and oversee comprehensive media and communication strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Establish clear guidelines and processes for content creation and media outreach.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communication platforms.
Digital Communications & Social Media Management:
- Manage and grow the organization’s website, social media platforms, and email newsletters.
- Develop engaging and impactful content to boost online engagement.
- Monitor and analyze social media trends to optimize digital campaigns.
Campaigns & Events:
- Conceptualize and execute advocacy and awareness campaigns focused on human rights issues in the MENA region.
- Support the planning and execution of public events, webinars, and conferences.
- Develop innovative storytelling techniques to highlight cases of human rights violations.
Content & Multimedia Production:
- Produce high-quality written materials, including press releases, victim profiles, case studies, and annual reports.
- Create multimedia content, including graphics, infographics, and short videos, to enhance messaging impact.
- Edit and proofread materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Media Outreach & Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media houses, and press agencies.
- Proactively pitch stories and secure media coverage for key issues.
- Draft and distribute press releases and media statements.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track engagement metrics and campaign performance to measure impact.
- Prepare detailed reports on media outreach, campaign effectiveness, and audience engagement.
- Use analytics to refine communication strategies and optimize future campaigns.
Qualifications & Skills
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- Strong commitment to human rights advocacy in the MENA region.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in communications, journalism, political science, international relations, or a related field.
- Proven experience in NGOs, media, or advocacy work (Ideally 0-2 years of experience).
- Fluent English and Arabic (Both written and spoken). Knowledge of French is an advantage.
- Proficiency in content creation, social media management, and multimedia production.
- Experience in graphic design and short video editing.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to create compelling narratives.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable with a strong ability to work independently and within a multicultural team.
