This opportunity is part of the “Strengthening Digital Communities” project supported by the UK Government’s Digital Access Programme in collaboration with the Government of Kenya, the ICT Authority of Kenya, and the County Governments of Mandera and Busia. The program aligns with Kenya’s National Digital Master Plan 2022-2032, targeting the training of 20 million citizens in digital skills.

This project is spearheaded by KICTANet (Kenya ICT Action Network) in partnership with key stakeholders, including the British High Commission in Nairobi, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, and the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy. KICTANet is a well-established organization focused on driving digital transformation and inclusivity across Kenya. Key Responsibilities
As a Community Digital Champion, you will play a crucial role in cascading foundational digital skills within Mandera. Your responsibilities include:
- Training and Facilitation
- Deliver high-quality training sessions to community members using the ICTA Foundational Digital Skills curriculum.
- Conduct person-to-person sessions to ensure effective learning.
- Capacity Building and Mentorship
- Build the capacity of the community by imparting foundational ICT skills.
- Provide continuous mentorship and support to community members to ensure skill retention and application.
- Monitoring and Reporting
- Track the progress of training sessions and community engagement.
- Submit regular updates to the project management team.
- Use feedback mechanisms and reporting tools to evaluate the program’s effectiveness.
Qualifications and Skills
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Academic Requirement: KCSE grade D+ or higher.
- Preferred Qualification: Certificate in Information Communication Technology from a recognized institution.
- Commitment: Willingness to dedicate time to complete the training and conduct community sessions.
- Training Delivery: Ability to deliver foundational digital literacy skills to at least 100 people through face-to-face interactions.
- Technical Requirements:
- Access to a stable internet connection.
- Possession of a digital device (smartphone, tablet, or laptop) for training purposes.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with knowledge of local dialects in Mandera.
