In Homa Bay, MSF France works closely with HBCTRH to improve adult inpatient medical services, TB treatment, and chronic disease management at multiple decentralized locations.


Key Responsibilities of the Locum Pharmacy Storekeeper

As a Locum Pharmacy Storekeeper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability and safety of pharmaceutical supplies while maintaining accurate inventory records. Your responsibilities include:

1. Medical Supply Chain & Inventory Management

  • Supervise pharmaceutical stock levels and maintain a continuous supply of medical products.
  • Receive and verify incoming medical shipments, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing stock is correctly recorded in IsyStock and stock cards.
  • Track consumption trends, report any unusual patterns, and notify the Pharmacy Manager of potential shortages.
  • Conduct routine inventory checks and assist in preparing monthly consumption reports.
  • Support the forecasting and procurement of medical stock, ensuring a well-managed supply chain.
  • Prepare orders for internal departments while ensuring proper dispatching and packaging.
  • Monitor expiry dates and alert limits to prevent stock-outs or wastage.
  • Facilitate the timely refilling of medical kits for expatriate houses and MSF vehicles.

2. Warehouse Management & Storage Conditions

  • Ensure all pharmaceutical storage conditions comply with MSF protocols.
  • Maintain proper temperature and humidity levels for medical storage.
  • Monitor and manage cold chain products in collaboration with the logistics department.
  • Enforce strict security measures to prevent theft, loss, or damage of medical supplies.
  • Ensure only authorized personnel have access to restricted pharmacy areas.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain and archive medical supply documents for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Prepare donations and loaned medical supplies as per the directives of the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Participate in emergency response operations when required.
  • Adhere to all pharmaceutical safety guidelines and inventory control protocols.

Qualifications and Skills Required

To be successful in this role, you should have the following:

Educational Background

  • Essential: Secondary school certificate.
  • Desirable: Certification or diploma in Pharmacy or Supply Chain Management.

Work Experience

  • Essential: Minimum 2 years of proven experience in pharmacy storekeeping or warehouse management.
  • Desirable: Previous experience working with MSF or other NGOs in the medical supply chain.

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Internet).
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems such as IsyStock is an added advantage.
  • Experience with cold chain storage and medical supply chain logistics.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluent in English and Swahili.
