INTRODUCTION
Are you a young Kenyan seeking to enhance your technical skills and secure meaningful employment? The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), with support from international funding partners, invites applications for a fully funded vocational training scholarship. This initiative aims to empower unemployed youth along the Kwa Jomvu – Mariakani Road Project by equipping them with essential skills to improve their employability and economic independence.
The training program will be conducted in recognized institutions, ensuring that beneficiaries receive certified and industry-relevant training. The initiative is designed to support economic empowerment by building technical skills, reducing unemployment rates, and enhancing career prospects for the youth in Kenya.
This program is designed to address youth unemployment by offering specialized Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) in various fields. The ultimate goal is to provide recipients with practical, industry-relevant skills that can help them access employment opportunities or start their own businesses. The training will focus on key areas that align with Kenya’s economic development goals and emerging job markets.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applications are open to youth who meet the following requirements:
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be between 18 and 35 years old
- Must have at least a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE)
- Must reside in one of the following sub-counties along the Kwa Jomvu – Mariakani road project:
- Jomvu Sub-County
- Kinango Sub-County
- Kaloleni Sub-County
- Rabai Sub-County
4. Must have no prior formal training at diploma level or above
Priority Consideration Will Be Given To:
- Orphans and youth from single-parent households
- Young single mothers who meet the minimum qualifications
- Persons living with disabilities
- Applicants from low-income families and informal settlements in the project area

Successful applicants will be placed in one of the following accredited institutions, depending on their area of interest:
Kenya Coast National Polytechnic (KCNP)
- Electrical Installation – 6 months
- Plumbing – 6 months
- Masonry – 6 months
- Carpentry – 6 months
- Motor Vehicle Mechanics – 6 months
- Welding & Fabrication – 6 months
- Hairdressing – 6 months
- Beauty Therapy – 6 months
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning – 6 months
- Dressmaking & Tailoring – 6 months
Mazeras Youth Polytechnic (MYP)
- Electrical Installation & Electronics Technology – 6 months
- Carpentry – 6 months
- Metal Processing Technology – 6 months
- Fashion Design & Dressmaking – 6 months
- Masonry – 6 months
- Plumbing – 6 months
- Hairdressing – 6 months
- Beauty Therapy – 6 months
- Motor Vehicle Technology – 6 months
Mariakani Vocational Training Centre (MVTC)
- Computer Operator – 6 months
- Hairdressing – 6 months
- Beauty Therapy – 6 months
- Tailoring – 6 months
- Dressmaking – 6 months
- Electrical Wireman – 6 months
- Welding (Electric Arc) – 6 months
- General Fitter – 6 months
- Light Vehicle Mechanics – 6 months
- Plumbing & Pipe Fitting – 6 months
- Masonry – 6 months
SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE
The selected beneficiaries will receive full financial support, including:
- Tuition Fees – 100% coverage for the training period
- Examination Fees – Payment for all necessary assessments
- Course Materials – Tools and equipment required for training
- Monthly Subsistence Allowance – To support basic needs during training
- Certification – Upon successful completion, candidates will receive a recognized certificate for employment and self-employment opportunities
HOW TO APPLY

Step 2: Verification by Authorities
- Applicants must obtain official verification from the Area Chief or Assistant County Commissioner confirming residence eligibility
Step 3: Submit Completed Applications

- KeNHA Coast Regional Offices, Public Works Building, 2nd Floor, Off Shimanzi Road, Mombasa
- Jomvu Sub-County Offices
- Kinango Sub-County Offices
- Kaloleni Sub-County Offices

Step 4: Submission Deadline
- Applications must be submitted by Friday, 28th March 2025, at 5:00 PM
- Late applications will not be considered
SELECTION PROCESS
- Applications will be evaluated by a panel of experts from the National Government and County Education Offices
- Eligible applicants will be invited for physical vetting
- Final selection will be based on eligibility, merit, and verification
- Successful candidates will receive official notification and institution placement for the May 2025 intake
