Key Responsibilities
As the Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for providing independent and objective assurance to the Board. The core duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting timely assessments of financial risks and presenting mitigation strategies to the Board.
- Gathering and analyzing data on financial, operational, and corporate governance practices, and submitting comprehensive reports.
- Verifying the accuracy of financial reports generated by management and advising the Board on any discrepancies.
- Ensuring all company transactions and systems adhere to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and international auditing standards.
- Monitoring and documenting the implementation of the Management Agency Agreement and providing detailed updates to the Board.
- Preparing and presenting reports on company operations, including service provider performance.
- Conducting continuous audits of tea auction transactions and verifying reports.
- Safeguarding company assets by identifying risks and making recommendations to mitigate them.
- Providing technical oversight at tea buying centers regarding governance, projects, and operational matters.
- Reviewing and auditing the implementation of Board resolutions.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Board.
Qualifications and Competencies
Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this position:
- Educational Background:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university.
- A Master’s Degree or membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is an added advantage.
- Professional Certification:
- Holder of CPA(K), ACCA, or CA certification.
- Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in good standing.
- Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a computer-based auditing environment.
- Additional Requirements:
- Must comply with the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
