Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain R scripts to merge geospatial data with various secondary datasets effectively.
  • Conduct descriptive statistical analysis, creating maps and informative tables utilizing GIS and secondary data sources.
  • Implement econometric models using R for advanced analysis of agricultural and economic secondary datasets.
  • Prepare scientific communications, including blogs, working papers, and reports designed to effectively inform policymakers and researchers.
  • Support the design and implementation of primary data collection surveys, ensuring alignment with analytical objectives.
  • Carry out rigorous econometric analysis, producing clear reports highlighting key outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate actively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, presenting analytical results and facilitating policy discussions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Geography, Agricultural Economics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrable expertise and experience in Big Data analysis and econometric modeling.
  • Proficiency in R programming, particularly for statistical modeling, data cleaning, and merging complex datasets.
  • Proven experience utilizing GIS and geospatial analytics tools.
  • Competency in writing clear, structured, and policy-oriented research outputs.
  • Strong ability in data visualization, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent command of English with superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Kenya’s agricultural or economic policy environment is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with research teams and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute R scripts linking complex geospatial datasets with economic indicators and other secondary information.
  • Generate visual outputs and reports, clearly presenting analytical findings using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Develop econometric frameworks and execute rigorous data modeling to uncover critical economic insights.
  • Provide strategic inputs in the design of surveys aimed at primary data collection, ensuring data accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Organize and facilitate stakeholder workshops, effectively communicating analytical findings and policy implications.

Timeline and Key Deliverables

Deliverable #1 (March 2025 – 10 working days)

  • Successfully download and integrate diverse geospatial and secondary datasets.
  • Produce comprehensive descriptive analyses and visualizations.

Deliverable #2 (April 2025 – 10 days)

  • Create econometric modeling proposals.
  • Contribute to survey design for primary data collection.
  • Produce a preliminary methodological report outlining econometric strategies.

Deliverable #3 (April–May 2025, 10 days)

  • Conduct robust econometric analyses.
  • Document and present key econometric outcomes in a structured analytical report.

Deliverable #4 (May–June 2025, 20 days)

  • Finalize comprehensive analytical reports.
  • Complete and submit a scientific paper based on econometric analysis.
  • Lead workshops presenting findings to stakeholders.
