Key Responsibilities of the Human Resources Consultant Role

As the Human Resources Consultant, your key responsibilities include:

Strategic HR Consulting:

  • Deliver dynamic consultations on various Human Resources (HR) topics aligned to Google’s People Operations (POps) Menu of Services, including performance enablement, career development, manager effectiveness, and team transitions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, supporting change management, business readiness, and HR strategy implementation.

Program Deployment and Policy Implementation:

  • Lead the deployment of high-priority, country-specific HR programs and initiatives aligned with Google Kenya’s people plan.
  • Manage employment policies, ensuring compliance with local employment laws and regulations.
  • Facilitate incident response and offer expert advice on labor relations, policy adherence, and legal compliance.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Collaborate seamlessly with multiple People Operations partners and business stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of HR processes and decisions.
  • Use your influencing skills to represent Google’s HR needs and drive decisions that align with business goals.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, inclusion, and ethical decision-making.

Data-Driven HR Solutions:

  • Identify opportunities and drive recommendations that improve the overall Googler experience.
  • Utilize data analytics to support HR strategies and deliver actionable insights to leadership.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience, with a focus on HR practices within Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Experience in implementing large-scale HR projects, risk management, change management, and communications.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and drive collaborative decisions across multiple stakeholder groups.

Technical Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of HR disciplines, Center of Excellence (CoE) practices, and local employment laws.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using HR systems and data analytics tools.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence leaders and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
