As a Human Resource Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives, leading strategic people initiatives, driving workforce planning, and enhancing employee relations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an HR Business Partner, you will be expected to:

1. Strategic Business Alignment

  • Work closely with Line Managers and departmental heads to integrate HR strategies with business goals
  • Lead workforce planning sessions and support organizational restructuring as needed
  • Align talent acquisition and development efforts with company growth projections

2. Talent Management & Performance Development

  • Support the full performance management cycle, including setting KPIs, mid-year reviews, and end-year evaluations
  • Collaborate with team leaders to develop employee growth plans and training roadmaps
  • Coordinate career development initiatives and internal promotions in partnership with the Head of People

3. Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution

  • Proactively address workplace issues, mediate conflicts, and manage employee grievances in a fair and timely manner
  • Coach managers on best practices in managing teams, behavioral standards, and disciplinary actions
  • Lead investigations in compliance with internal policies and employment legislation

4. Training & Capacity Building

  • Conduct regular training needs assessments and support the development of annual training calendars
  • Source, organize, and facilitate external or internal L&D programs across departments
  • Monitor training effectiveness and conduct post-training evaluations to ensure learning application

5. Change Management & Communication

  • Support the implementation of change management projects, such as organizational restructuring or new policy roll-outs
  • Serve as the communication link between management and staff, ensuring clear, timely, and inclusive messaging
  • Maintain employee engagement through regular surveys, open forums, and focus groups

6. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)

  • Promote and uphold diversity and inclusion principles across the organization
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop equitable recruitment and promotion strategies
  • Monitor gender and diversity metrics and propose interventions as needed

7. HR Metrics and Data Reporting

  • Track and analyze HR indicators such as turnover, engagement, absenteeism, and training ROI
  • Provide quarterly reports with actionable insights to the Head of People
  • Use HR analytics tools to inform decision-making and forecasting

8. HR Policy Compliance & Legal Risk Management

  • Ensure HR operations are fully compliant with Kenyan Employment Law, Labor Acts, and occupational safety standards
  • Update HR manuals and employee handbooks in line with legal or organizational changes
  • Guide the HR team and line managers on policy interpretation and implementation

9. Culture Building & Organizational Events

  • Support initiatives that reinforce Solar Panda’s core values and cultural principles
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate employee events, team building, town halls, and appreciation days
  • Gather feedback on culture health and employee well-being using structured surveys and informal interactions

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

To thrive in this role, the ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:

Minimum Academic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field

Professional Certification:

  • At least one Kenya-recognized HR certification such as CHRP (Certified Human Resource Professional) or KNEC Diploma in HRM

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in a generalist HR role, with at least 2 years in a business partner or HR leadership capacity

Key Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of Kenyan labor laws, HR compliance, and HR best practices
  • Strong business acumen and ability to interpret operational challenges into HR initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in HR Information Systems (HRIS) and MS Office Suite
  • High integrity, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information
