Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Irrigation and Fertigation, you will:

Irrigation Management

• Develop and implement irrigation schedules to ensure optimal water usage and enhance crop health.
• Supervise irrigation teams to ensure daily and weekly programs are executed efficiently.
• Maintain high standards by preventing water wastage and ensuring accurate water distribution.

Fertigation Management

• Plan, implement, and evaluate fertigation schedules to deliver precise nutrient solutions to crops.
• Oversee the operation of fertigation systems for accurate nutrient application and water treatment processes.

Equipment Maintenance

• Establish and oversee maintenance schedules for irrigation systems and tools to ensure peak performance.
• Address system performance issues promptly to minimize downtime and optimize operations.

Team Leadership

• Recruit, train, and manage the irrigation and fertigation staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
• Allocate daily tasks, set performance targets, and ensure team adherence to operational goals.

Record Keeping and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of irrigation schedules, equipment performance, and team activities.
• Submit detailed reports to the Production Manager, identifying areas for improvement.

Health and Safety

• Enforce strict health and safety protocols within the irrigation and fertigation operations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will need:

• A Degree/Diploma in Horticulture, Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or related fields.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing irrigation and fertigation in large-scale farming or horticultural production.
• Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, fertigation techniques, and water treatment processes.
• Proven leadership and team management skills with a track record of effective supervision.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
