This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of the company’s general ledger operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing expenses, managing withholding tax procedures, supporting fee system planning, reconciling accounts, processing internal transfers, and collaborating across global teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Ledger Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring complete, accurate, and timely recording of all financial transactions. The ideal candidate will provide end-to-end support for local and cross-border general ledger tasks.
1. Expense Review and Compliance

Review all company expenses to verify compliance with internal reimbursement policies.

Cross-check supporting documents and verify the correctness of ledger entries.

Ensure that claims are backed by valid documents and approvals.

Identify inconsistencies in records and provide immediate resolutions.
2. Withholding Tax Verification
-
Check and process withholding tax to ensure correct application.

Arrange and monitor timely payments to avoid penalties or non-compliance.

Verify that all tax deductions are posted accurately in the accounting system.

Prevent incorrect or double payment by validating supplier details and terms.
3. Fee System Support and Risk Prevention

Assist Chinese finance teams in formulating fair and compliant fee systems.

Ensure that all financial decisions align with Kenyan accounting standards.

Analyze fee proposals and highlight risk areas or operational inefficiencies.

Collaborate in adjusting systems to meet changes in regulations or business needs.
4. General Ledger Operations

Handle all manual entries into the general ledger for assigned business units.

Review recurring entries, prepayments, and adjustments for consistency.

Support month-end and year-end account closing processes.

Perform ledger reconciliations and variance analysis.
5. Cashier Orders and Fund Monitoring
-
Check cashier order submissions to ensure completeness and timely delivery.

Investigate missing information and escalate unresolved discrepancies.
-
Enforce controls to prevent cash leaks, theft, or fund misallocation.
6. Internal Transfers and Exchange Rates
-
Process timely inter-company fund transfers, ensuring exchange accuracy.

Track currency conversions and remittance movements.
-
Liaise with banks and treasury teams to ensure smooth fund flows.
7. Bank-Related Tasks and Remittance Oversight
-
Coordinate bank reconciliations, deposits, and wire transfers.

Follow remittance indicators and ensure prompt reporting to headquarters.

Work with finance teams to ensure funds reach China on time under group remittance policies.

Prepare fund reports, including liquidity summaries and remittance schedules.
8. FIS System and ERP Integration
-
Support seamless integration of the FIS system and ERP tools (e.g., SAP).

Resolve data sync or mapping issues between systems.
-
Coordinate with IT and finance teams to troubleshoot system downtimes.
9. Ad Hoc Finance Tasks
-
Provide support to the finance manager on audit preparations.
-
Draft and validate journal entries as per new business processes.
-
Perform other duties as assigned by the financial controller or senior finance leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Educational Background
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is mandatory.

A Master’s Degree in Accounting or Financial Management will be an added advantage.
Certifications (Preferred)
-
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a must—Part III preferred.
-
Additional certifications in SAP, IFRS, or financial compliance will be advantageous.
Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a general ledger or financial accounting role.

Prior work in manufacturing, logistics, or multinational companies is preferred.

Proven experience in managing ledgers, processing taxes, and working with ERP systems.
Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, IF statements).

Solid working knowledge of ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks.

Strong grasp of financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and internal controls.
