Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is a leading pediatric healthcare provider in Kenya, committed to providing exceptional medical care to children. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fundraising Manager to develop and execute a robust fundraising strategy that supports our mission to improve children’s health. This is an onsite role based in Nairobi, Kenya, with opportunities to make a significant impact locally and internationally.


Key Responsibilities

As the Fundraising Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

Strategic Fundraising Leadership

  • Effectively managing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve the foundation’s financial targets.
  • Developing and overseeing annual fundraising budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Creating innovative fundraising initiatives that align with the foundation’s mission and strategy.

Donor Relationship Management

  • Managing existing grant/funder relationships, coordinating grant reporting in line with donor requirements.
  • Building a robust pipeline of funding opportunities by researching and identifying new sources of funding.
  • Developing and nurturing a major donor portfolio, engaging with high-level individual and corporate donors.

Corporate Partnerships and Community Engagement

  • Creating and implementing a corporate partnership program, establishing long-term relationships with key corporate partners.
  • Overseeing volunteer-led community and event fundraising, ensuring successful execution and sustainability.
  • Coordinating and managing all fund development activities, including local and international fundraising, corporate donations, and grant-making initiatives.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Leading and supervising the fundraising team, ensuring their professional growth and the sustainability of the fundraising function.
  • Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including donors, partner organizations, and philanthropy networks, to foster impactful relationships.

Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for an accomplished professional with the following qualifications and skills:

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in a recognized field.
  • Formal training in fundraising is a strong advantage.

Experience and Expertise

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in grant writing and developing innovative fundraising strategies.
  • Proven ability to network, cultivate partnerships, and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of finance, the healthcare industry, and evolving fundraising trends.

Key Competencies

  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent people skills, with a high level of integrity, humility, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee fundraising staff and progressively grow a fundraising function.
