KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead coordination of external, internal, donor, tax, statutory, and government audits across the Africa region.
  • Plan and manage auditor engagements including implementation and monitoring of corrective action plans.
  • Maintain a regional register of audit recommendations and ensure their timely closure.
  • Conduct transaction processing reviews, control reviews, and compliance assessments to identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Provide technical support in taxation and statutory filings, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance timelines.
  • Collaborate with country teams, vendors, finance specialists, and operations personnel to uphold compliance standards.
  • Liaise with World Office teams to strengthen internal systems, ERPs, reporting frameworks, and policy implementations.
  • Provide financial preparation support including review of financial statements and support documents.
  • Deliver staff training and guidance on SOPs, financial documentation, regulatory filings, and risk controls.
  • Promote and ensure a strong audit trail culture across financial operations in Africa.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience handling audits, tax filings, and statutory compliance.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CIA.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills using financial systems.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial software.
  • Prior exposure to donor-funded or non-profit financial systems.
  • Familiarity with country-specific compliance regulations across Africa.

Preferred Attributes

  • Multilingual skills and multicultural experience.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (such as Oracle, SAP).
  • Previous work in a conservation or development organization.
  • Technical expertise in handling complex financial transactions and reports.
