Key Responsibilities
As the Financial Accountant, you will handle various financial tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance. Your main duties will include:
- Day-to-Day Transactions: Verifying and recording financial data into the system with precision.
- Compliance Review: Ensuring all documents and transactions meet compliance standards.
- Transaction Recording: Keeping all financial transactions updated and recorded promptly.
- Supplier Payments: Reconciling supplier payments and processing invoices/credit notes.
- Cash Flow Management: Preparing weekly and monthly cash flow reports and forecasts.
- Statutory Filings: Filing and preparing all statutory and tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, and NHIF, ensuring compliance with legal deadlines.
- Month-End Closure: Conducting end-month financial processes and reconciling all accounts to maintain general ledger hygiene.
- Financial Reporting: Preparing financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows.
- Audit Assistance: Preparing interim and final audit files and addressing issues raised by internal and external auditors.
- Budget Preparation: Assisting departmental heads in creating annual budgets for respective units.
- Document Management: Maintaining proper filing systems and transaction records.
- Team Collaboration: Promoting a positive and collaborative work environment within the finance team.
Qualifications and Skills
Hard Skills and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional Certification: CPA Finalist.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a similar role.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Expertise in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
