KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistant Payables Accountant – Nairobi

This role focuses on supporting the Finance Department in ensuring that payments are processed efficiently, accurately, and on time. Key responsibilities include:

  • Review, validate, and process incoming invoices, ensuring compliance with internal policies, procurement contracts, and statutory requirements.

  • Verify correctness of VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory deductions prior to payment processing.

  • Ensure all supplier invoices are matched against purchase orders and delivery notes, and are approved by the authorized personnel.

  • Perform reconciliations of supplier statements with ledger entries, identifying any mismatches and rectifying discrepancies.

  • Maintain a clean audit trail of payment vouchers, journal entries, and supporting documentation for all accounts payable transactions.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly payables aging reports, vendor analysis summaries, and budget variance tracking.

  • Respond to vendor inquiries, escalate disputed invoices, and follow up on long-outstanding balances.

  • Work closely with Procurement and Treasury teams to ensure cash flow is efficiently managed in line with accounts payable cycles.

  • Assist with preparation for financial audits by compiling necessary reports, ledger entries, and confirmations.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the Finance department to reduce cycle times and increase internal control efficiency.

Branch Customer Service Assistant – Meru

As the first point of contact at the branch level, this role is essential in creating a positive customer experience, ensuring satisfaction, and supporting branch-level operations:

  • Welcome all walk-in customers in a professional and courteous manner, ensuring their needs are addressed promptly.

  • Assist clients in understanding insurance policies, renewals, benefits, and claims processes through face-to-face, phone, or email interactions.

  • Handle incoming and outgoing communication, maintaining proper logs and follow-ups as required.

  • Receive customer documentation such as claims forms, KYC details, and premium payments, and forward them to relevant departments.

  • Issue payment receipts, policy updates, and other documents accurately using internal systems.

  • Manage day-to-day administrative functions at the branch, including stationery inventory, document control, and branch record-keeping.

  • Assist in tracking customer follow-up actions to ensure timely updates and issue resolution.

  • Work closely with the underwriting and claims team to provide accurate client updates.

  • Resolve or escalate customer complaints in line with company policies and customer care SOPs.

  • Support branch events and outreach activities including financial literacy drives, community engagements, or partner activations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Assistant Payables Accountant – Nairobi

To be successful in this finance role, candidates should exhibit a combination of technical financial expertise, analytical thinking, and a disciplined approach to execution.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited university.

  • CPA Part II or higher is required.

  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in an accounts payable or finance assistant role—insurance sector exposure is a plus.

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, financial procedures, and tax legislation in Kenya.

  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel functions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for internal collaboration with Procurement, Treasury, and Audit teams.

  • Ability to handle large volumes of transactions with high accuracy and prioritize tasks under pressure.

  • Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and compliance with internal control frameworks.

Branch Customer Service Assistant – Meru

This role is tailored for individuals who are customer-centric, results-driven, and thrive in a service-oriented environment.

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Customer Service, Marketing, or related discipline.

  • A minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in customer-facing roles, ideally in a bank, insurance office, or front desk setting.

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of the local dialect is an asset.

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve customer concerns with empathy, tact, and efficiency.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • High level of personal integrity, time management, and reliability.

  • Knowledge of insurance systems or regulatory guidelines is an advantage.
