Key Responsibilities
As a Finance Associate, your role will encompass various accounting and financial tasks, including but not limited to:
- Inspecting, verifying, and reconciling accounts payables records and balances.
- Preparing weekly accounts payables reconciliation reports for all payment channels.
- Producing monthly bank reconciliation reports.
- Preparing balance sheet schedules and ensuring alignment with the general ledger.
- Managing accruals for unpaid invoices and reconciling them monthly.
- Issuing updated vendor statements by the 3rd of each subsequent month.
- Preparing payment vouchers and maintaining accurate daily financial records.
- Ensuring timely and accurate recording of payments and tracking of accounts payable.
- Processing bank payments and reconciling banking activities.
- Resolving invoice and payment-related queries in collaboration with internal teams.
- Supporting compliance with company policies, procedures, and financial controls.
- Assisting with audit preparations and related duties.
- Contributing to month-end closing procedures by passing necessary entries.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in accounts payable and bank reconciliations.
- Strong understanding of invoice processing, payment workflows, and financial systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Enrollment or certification in ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS and Kenyan tax legislation.
- Minimum of 2+ years in the accounting and finance sector.
- Audit experience—Big 4 experience preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive problem-solving abilities with a focus on results.
- Comfortable working in a start-up environment with ambitious goals.
