-
Handling and caring for assigned dogs, including feeding, grooming, exercise, and monitoring behavioral health.
-
Participating in routine K9 training sessions, including obedience, detection drills (e.g., explosives, narcotics), tracking, or protection maneuvers.
-
Responding to calls for dog support during patrols, inspections, or emergencies.
-
Driving assigned vehicles to and from duty locations, veterinary facilities, and training centers.
-
Ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of dog transport cages, kennels, and vehicles.
-
Keeping accurate records of the dog’s behavior, health status, work performance, and training milestones.
-
Following established safety procedures to ensure humane handling at all times.
-
Supporting the security team with perimeter checks, gate control, and crowd control duties as needed.
-
Conducting routine inspections of gear and safety equipment for both handler and canine.
-
Assisting veterinary professionals in restraining dogs during medical checks.
-
Providing written reports on each shift’s activity, performance issues, or incidents.
-
Reporting any behavioral or health concerns to supervisors immediately.
This role involves physical activity, extended hours in the field, and a strong sense of duty and compassion toward animals.

-
Certificate in Dog Handling, Security Operations, Veterinary Assistance, or a related field is an added advantage.

WHAT WE OFFER
While this is a demanding role, it is also highly rewarding—particularly for those who genuinely love animals and want to grow their careers in canine security operations in Kenya. Here’s what successful candidates can expect:

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
Canine units are increasingly critical in security operations across Kenya. From public events to sensitive facility patrols and rural tracking, K9s offer detection capabilities and deterrence unmatched by traditional human patrols.
